Anybody for cake?

Thank you for joining me on this survey of the last sixty years of history in the work for the freedom to marry. I’ll leave you with a thought from Justice Carter, writing for the California Supreme Court in 1948, in Perez v. Sharp:

The freedom to marry the person of one’s choice has not always existed, and evidently does not exist here today. But is not that one of the fundamental rights of a free people?
